Sleeping in Bergen: between the village and the dune reserve

Bergen lies four kilometres from the coast, between the village and the Noordhollands Duinreservaat. You sleep more cheaply here than by the sea and have more choice in food and shops, but you have to cycle or drive to get to the beach.

The trade is a simple one: in Bergen you pay less and have more around you, but you do not step straight out onto the beach. Four kilometres, a quarter of an hour by bike through the dunes.

Who does this work for?

For anyone who wants more than beach. Bergen has museums, shops, a cinema and the largest choice of cafes and restaurants in the area, and the dune reserve begins on the west side of the village. If you are going mainly for sun and sand, Bergen aan Zee or Egmond makes more sense.

What is the Zeeweg?

The road that connects Bergen with Bergen aan Zee, straight through the dune reserve. Cycling it is beautiful but hilly; on the way back in the evening it is a climb.

How is this order decided?

The order below is not for sale. We sort on the Google rating, then on the number of reviews, then on the distance to the beach access. Whoever is at the top is there because guests put them there.
