Camperduin beach access: parking, dogs and the lagoon

Where do you park and what does it cost?

The car park at the access point is not a municipal one. It is private, owned by Hoeve Camperduin, address Heereweg 334 in Schoorl. You pay afterwards at the machine, in cash or by card: €1,00 per 30 minutes, with a daily maximum of €7,00 in high season and €5,00 in low season. There is no free period here, not even in winter. Camperduin is not part of the paid parking scheme of the gemeente Bergen (the municipality of Bergen), so a parking permit or pay-by-phone parking does not work there either.

For comparison: at Hargen aan Zee, about one and a half kilometres further south, you pay €2,45 per hour in 2026 with a maximum of €7,35 per day, daily from 10.00 to 19.00 from March to October inclusive. From November to February inclusive that car park is free. More expensive per hour, then, but free in winter.

At the access point there are five disabled parking spaces, a motorcycle parking area with six places and a bicycle rack for a hundred bicycles. Do not navigate to “Camperduin”, because you may end up stranded in the village, a good kilometre inland. The pavilion on site advises Heereweg 407, 1871 GL Schoorl.

Can the dog run off the lead?

From 1 October to 1 May everywhere on the beach, all day. From 1 May to 1 October only before 10.00 and after 19.00. In between it may be on the activity beach on a lead, recognisable by the orange beach-post cap. On the sun beach (yellow cap) and the naturist beach (pink cap) it is not allowed at all then, not even on a lead. So check the colour of the post before you sit down. Beach pavilion Struin at the access point states itself that dogs are always welcome there.

Can you swim in the lagoon?

Yes. Since 24 January 2025 the lagoon has been designated an official bathing water location by the province of Noord-Holland. The water is tested every two weeks for five months. On the north side there will be a line of buoys separating the family section from the section for kitesurfers among others. From 1 May to 1 October, speed sports are not allowed in the lagoon.

How do you get there without a car?

By bus 410 from Connexxion, terminus Camperduin Strandafslag, right by the access point. Line 151 from Alkmaar still appears in many guides, but it has been discontinued.

Practical note: on every Sunday from 5 July to 30 August 2026 inclusive, that same car park hosts the Wrakhout Kofferbakmarkt (car boot sale), from 9.00 to 15.00, free for visitors. The gate at the entrance to the market has to close at 16.15.
